Let’s talk about packaging, Kai, one of your favorite subjects.
Yes, it’s definitly a great theme. Making product packaging irresistible is something wonderful. It’s a real challenge to connect the motif to the photograph.
What is your goal with packaging photos?
Good packaging photos are characterized by their ability to remain in the public consciousness for as long as possible, and for their iconization. The continuity of the motifs and their recognition in a small size is also important.
What is the point of craftsmanship?
It allows us to have more control over the finished product. We use the software to layer all the other elements over the photo. On the screen we see the typography, all the graphic elements and everything else above the subject. Basically, we see how all the components will fit together in the end.
And what would you say is typical when shooting packaging photos?
We play around with a lot of options; we are already producing all the possible variants for the shot. This means that changes can be made relatively easily, even after the shoot, because we already thought of the alternatives during the shoot.
